Way To Go, H2O!

We know we need water to survive, and we feel better when we drink it regularly. However, in a recent study by the Nutrition Information Center in NY, over 75% of America is chronically dehydrated!!! Let's look at this from a quick Bill Nye point of view.

Real talk! Over 60% of our body weight is water! Our body uses water in all its cells, organs, and tissues to help regulate temperature and maintain other bodily functions. Because our bodies lose water through breathing, sweating, and digestion, it's important to rehydrate by drinking fluids and eating food that contain water.  To stay comfortably hydrated, the Mayo Clinic suggest on average women should drink 11.5 cups of water and men should drink 15.5 cups daily!

Needing a little variety?

Here are a few foods that have a high water content!

When finding beverages other than water to hydrate, professionals suggest staying away from liquids with carbonation, alcohol, sugar, artificial sweeteners or caffeine. These tend to have a diuretic effect in the body. In moderation they are all fine, however, they defeat the hydration purpose. When in doubt, water it out!

So, if you can't remember the last time you drank water today or this week, chances are you need to hydrate! Grab a glass or snack and water your body!
